Oven timer

A free oven timer that loads 25 minutes and rings loudly enough to hear over a range hood. Keep it open on a kitchen laptop or tablet in fullscreen, where it is easier to read than the small display on the stove. Also searched as baking timer, roasting timer, kitchen oven timer.

Common oven times

Times are for a preheated conventional oven. Convection runs about 25°F lower or a little faster. Always check early, because pans, racks and ovens vary.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an oven take to preheat?

Most home ovens reach 350°F in 10 to 15 minutes. Set a 15 minute timer after turning it on, then start the recipe timer when you put the dish in.

Should I set the timer for the full recipe time?

Set it a few minutes short and check. Ovens run hot or cold, and pans differ. You can always add time, but you cannot un-burn a tray of cookies.

What internal temperature is safe for chicken?

The USDA says 165°F measured in the thickest part. A thermometer beats any timer for meat.
