Sound and display choices

The Bell sound carries across a room but lands softer than Beep, which keeps the class calm during tests. For silent tests, choose Silent and watch the ring turn green at zero. The moon button switches to dark mode, which glares less when the lights are off for the projector.

Settings are saved in the browser, so the school laptop remembers your sound and theme next period. Bookmark the 5 minute timer and the fullscreen timer for one-click starts. The timer for teachers guide walks through full lesson routines, and the kids timer page explains the visual ring for younger students.

Frequently asked questions

Does the classroom timer work on an interactive whiteboard?

Yes. It runs in any browser. Press F for fullscreen, then tap Start on the board or press Space on the keyboard.

Can students see the time from the back of the room?

In fullscreen the digits are about a quarter of the screen height, which is readable from the back of a normal classroom on a projector.

Will it keep counting if I switch to my slides?

Yes. The timer is tied to the clock, and the remaining time shows in the browser tab. Turn on Notify to get an alert while you are in another window.
